Humanitarian Aid for IDPs in Kurdistan, Donated by the German General Consulate in Erbi
The General German Consulate in Erbil, across its different support and help projects in Kurdistan Region, has a big contribution in Humanitarian Aid for the Refugees and IDPs located in Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
General German Consulate in Erbil and the ETTC has decided to provide a Humanitarian Project in Erbil by providing Solar Generators in order to let the IDPs and Refugees have an alternative power supply for their daily uses. The purpose of the project is to provide Solar Generators to the IDP families who are living in the mountain areas in Iraqi Kurdistan Region in order to use it for lightening and recharging devices with USB-port charging.
The funded project by the German General Consulate has targeted around 399 IDP families located in the mountain areas in Erbil province and have been provided by Solar Generators and Solar light chargers. The project objectives have been achieved successfully and the main goal of the project is realised as well. This kind of support has different impacts and benefits in the country as Kurdistan region has a big gap in the electricity supply for years. And the lack of the Electricity power in the region made these families mostly remain without sustainable electricity therefore such alternative is highly appreciated by the IDP families and the local government as well because it will help to reduce the pressure of the electricity supply on the government. The monitoring and evaluation team could realise that the distributed product has a good benefit for these families as they can use it every day and it has a long term impact as these generators could work for years.
The IDP families were grateful and appreciative for such humanitarian aid by the German General Consulate and the European Technology and Training Centre. They expect more supports and aid from the German people and the European communities.
